How to use your private health insurance
- Visit your GP (NHS or private) and request a referral to your preferred consultant at Cromwell Hospital. If you’re not sure what consultant to see, you can request an open referral and we will help you to choose a consultant when you book an appointment.
- Request pre-authorisation from your private health insurer. Usually, you will only receive pre-authorisation for an initial consultation and diagnostic tests – you will need to request further pre-authorisation for any treatment. Make sure you discuss what will be covered so there aren’t any unexpected surprises later on, including any excess charges. If your request is approved, you will receive an authorisation code to use at the hospital.
- After you've authorised your care, contact us to book your appointment. You can call our appointments team or fill out an appointment request form. If you don't know what consultant you'd like to see, our team can help you choose. You will be asked to provide your insurance details and authorisation code.
- From that point on, there’s no need to worry about payment – invoices for our services will be sent directly to your insurer.
We accept private health insurance from all major providers, including:
- Allianz
- Aviva
- AXA
- Bupa
- Cigna
- Vitality
- And many more.
