We are proud to provide private transplantation services for both the liver and kidneys, including private kidney transplant and private liver transplant in the UK. When a kidney is transplanted from a living donor, it will usually last on average between 20 to 25 years. However, this can vary depending on the age and overall health of both the donor and the recipient.
Your original kidneys will usually be left inside the body following a transplant. They will only be removed if they are causing problems such as pain, infections, or high blood pressure. Your new donor kidney will be placed in the lower groin area.
It is possible to have multiple kidney transplants if your donor kidney stops working. However, this is dependent on your age and overall health status.
Patients who receive their first donor kidney at a younger age will likely need more than one transplant surgery in their lifetime.
A liver ultrasound scan is used to produce images of your liver and its blood vessels. It is helpful for identifying abnormalities in the liver and can be used to diagnose conditions such as liver cancer, hepatitis, or cirrhosis.
An MRI scan uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the liver, which can be used to help identify abnormalities. It is useful for diagnosing both malignant and non-malignant lesions on the liver.
