Self-pay treatment
At Cromwell Hospital, we know that waiting for medical treatment can impact your quality of life – leaving you frustrated and sometimes in pain. When you choose to self-pay, you'll be offered appointments with leading consultants, rapid access to diagnostics, quick referrals to onward care, and a wide range of treatments.
You'll gain rapid access to specialist care, and the pricing is transparent – we’ll make it really clear what you’re paying for, when. Anyone can self-pay for diagnostic tests and treatments – you don’t need private health insurance and, in most cases, you don't need a GP referral either. Our consultants and medical teams are ready to help you get back to feeling yourself.
Self-paying simply means that you are paying for your healthcare yourself, instead of using health insurance or accessing it via the NHS.
If you take out a medical loan to fund your care, this also counts as self-paying.
Many people choose to go private so that they can access care faster. We provide same-day and next-day consultations*, as well as diagnostics and procedures when you need them.
Self-paying also provides the freedom to choose your own consultant (although our Self-Pay team would be happy to recommend a specialist if you need help).
You don’t need a GP referral if you’re self-paying, making it even faster to book your first appointment – simply call our Self-Pay team and we’ll do the rest.
Most importantly, a faster and more efficient route to care means you can get back to feeling your best sooner.

Self-pay packages
For many of our key procedures, we also offer a range of self-pay packages, including:
- Hospital packages that group standard diagnostics and the procedure into one clear price. Consultant fees, anaesthetist fees, and any other addition to your treatment are billed separately.
- Fixed price packages that group everything you may need for treatment into one clear price, including pre-admission tests, the procedure, professional fees, post-op outpatient care, and any other consultant-recommended services.
Please note that not every patient will be suitable for a Fixed Price Package. After your initial consultation, your consultant will be able to make the best recommendation based on your medical history and individual treatment needs.
Below is a selection of our most popular self-pay packages. This list is not exhaustive.
If the treatment you’re looking for is not listed below, please get in touch with our Self-Pay team and we can assist you.
At this stage, we will be able to give you a guide price for the treatment you need. Please be aware this may change and the final price will be given to you after you have your initial appointment with your consultant.
We will be able to give you the consultation fee at this point as well.
You can phone us on +44 (0)20 7244 4886 or email us at cromwellselfpayteam@cromwellhospital.com.
When you attend your initial appointment, your consultant will discuss with you your health history and your treatment options.
They will also book any diagnostic tests you may need prior to your surgery or treatment. This could include X–rays, MRI scans, and blood tests.
After you’ve seen your consultant and undergone any required diagnostics tests, we can then confirm the price for your treatment.
If you have further questions, we will be on-hand to answer these and support you in making an informed decision.
If you would like to go ahead with the treatment, we can then book you in at a date and time most convenient for you. We’ll continue to be available to answer questions and support you as best as we can throughout.
We will contact you to take the payment for your treatment five days before you come into the hospital.
