Children's ENT

Diagnosing and treating conditions related to the ear, nose and throat (ENT) in children.

Overview

Our highly regarded paediatric ear, nose and throat specialists treat a range of conditions, from recurrent tonsillitis to problems with the airways.

What is paediatric ENT?

Mr Mohiemen Anwar, Consultant ENT Surgeon, explains what paediatric ENT is.

Related conditions

Our service treats babies and children up to 18 years of age for conditions including:

  • allergies
  • audiology
  • cancer
  • cleft palate and craniofacial surgery
  • nasal blockages
  • obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome, or stopping breathing due to obstruction of the upper airway
  • otitis media, or inflammation of the inner ear
  • speech and language disorders
  • tonsillitis

Our paediatric ENT consultants are supported by a comprehensive hearing centre which is run by experienced and sympathetic audiologists.

Please note that we do not provide a paediatric intensive care unit at Cromwell Hospital. However, any deteriorating child will be quickly assessed and stabilised by a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) trained in paediatric intensive care, supported by an on-call Paediatric Intensive Care Consultant, before being transferred to the most appropriate paediatric intensive care provider by the Children’s Acute Transport Service (CATS).

"I would like to thank everyone at Cromwell Hospital for the fantastic way you looked after me. I could not fault anyone during the time I spent with you - from the point I arrived in reception, to the catering team and every member of staff throughout the changes of shift during my stay."
