About complementary therapies
At Cromwell Hospital, complementary therapies are provided alongside conventional medical treatment to help manage symptoms, alleviate stress and tension, and promote wellbeing.
We specifically offer reiki and massage therapy, which are applied to energy centres within the body to help release blocked emotions.
Complementary therapy is carried out by Sue Lyons, Complementary Therapist.
Reiki
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a type of complementary therapy that involves the use of non-manipulative gentle touch.
Reiki is often used as a complementary therapy for people with cancer. This is because it is believed to help reduce stress and promote emotional wellbeing.
In a reiki session, your therapist will use their hands – either positioned above you or lightly on you – to move and balance energy within your body. This can be carried out while fully clothed.
Reiki is a widely accepted form of complementary therapy that is offered in many hospitals and cancer centres across the UK.
Testimonials
"I can't even describe the huge benefit this service provided to my treatment here at the hospital. Sue is a wonderful person and her therapy really helped to relax me during the radiotherapy period."
“Sue Lyons is an angel who has made my difficult painful journey that bit easier. The kindness, tenderness, and love she genuinely provides in every session is outstanding. The recommendations and treatment given has really made changes to my care and life.”
"It has felt transformative. I really didn't know what to expect, but I have felt much more secure, grounded, and purposeful. Wonderful!"
“Extremely pleased with results and benefit of the therapy. As a slightly cynical individual, I wish I had experienced this at a younger age, the therapist was engaging and professional.”
