About Dr Andrew Palmer
Dr Palmer graduated from the University of London in 1980, before completing his nephrology training at King’s College and St Mary’s Hospitals. In 2005, he was appointed as consultant nephrologist at Hammersmith Hospital, part of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The West London Renal Centre at Hammersmith Hospital is the busiest unit in the country, serving a population of two million people with the highest rates of renal disease and failure in the UK.
Dr Palmer is experienced in all aspects of renal disease, including general nephrology and both acute and chronic renal failure. He also has longstanding experience of renal transplantation and his research interests have been predominantly within this field. He believes in an empathetic, patient-centred approach when it comes to providing care for renal conditions.
