About Dr Steven White

Dr Steven White did psychology and philosophy at Oxford and then a doctorate in neuropsychology, looking at memory function following head injury in children. He went on to qualify in medicine at Cambridge and trained in psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital and in the United States.He moved into his current area of clinical neurophysiology after EEG/epilepsy fellowships at the Medical College of Virginia and the National Institutes of Health.

From 2000-2013 he was a Consultant Neurophysiologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and St Mary's Hospital and is now at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the Cromwell Hospital. He is interested in EEG monitoring in intensive care and in videotelemetry in the diagnosis of epilepsy.

At Charing Cross Hospital, he runs a Complex Epilepsy Clinic for people with difficult to control epilepsy, usually with neurobehavioural co-morbidities. He is interested in seizures and disturbances of cognition, mood and behaviour following encephalitis and carbon monoxide exposure, as well as memory disturbance in people with epilepsy. He is a member of the Encephalitis Society's Professional Advisory Panel and a medical adviser to CO Awareness, which supports people who have been affected by carbon monoxide poisoning.
