About Mr Asit Arora
Mr Arora obtained his medical degree with honours from the University of Manchester in 1998. Throughout his undergraduate degree, he received numerous awards for academic excellence, including best research student. Following graduation, he underwent training for a head and neck fellowship at three renowned facilities for robotic head and neck surgery. Mr Arora finished his PhD in transoral robotic surgery (TORS) in 2015 at Imperial College London. Mr Arora’s PhD research led to the launch of several pivotal clinical studies, the publication of 15 research papers, and obtained six prestigious research awards.
Mr Arora is well-known for his dedication to enhancing the standard of healthcare through the founding of the Global Tracheostomy Collaborative, a global alliance of doctors, nurses, therapists, carers, and patients working together to optimise tracheostomy care. The first TORS training programme and the development of robotic head and neck surgery in the UK are both attributed to him. In addition to teaching seven postgraduate courses and the highly esteemed London Head and Neck Dissection course, Mr Arora is also significantly involved in medical education.
Mr Arora is a significant TORS opinion leader and continues to be at the forefront of head and neck surgery research and innovation. With over 45 peer-reviewed publications and nine book chapters, Mr Arora has published extensively in the field. He has presented his findings at more than 90 national and international conferences and has won ten prizes for his excellent contributions to research.
