About Mr Rahul Patel

Mr Rahul Patel is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Cromwell Hospital, specialising in injuries of the knee and hip.

Mr Patel qualified from The Royal Free School of Medicine and received his surgical training at various hospitals across London. He undertook a two-year research degree at University College London, before going on to complete specialist orthopaedic training on the Middlesex/UCL London rotation. He then undertook further subspecialist fellowship training at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Colorado, USA.

Mr Patel's main orthopaedic and research interests are sports injuries of the knee and hip, knee ligament injury, meniscal preservation and transplant, patellofemoral instability, and multiligament injuries of the knee.

Mr Patel's NHS base is University College Hospital, where he holds the position of Associate Professor and is actively involved in the teaching of higher surgical trainees. He is also a course developer and tutor on the MSc in Sports Medicine, Exercise, and Health. In 2016, he was President of the Orthopaedics section at The Royal Society of Medicine.
