About Dr Kesavan Kandiah

Dr Kesavan Kandiah is a consultant gastroenterologist at Cromwell Hospital. His clinical practice focuses on the assessment and management of a range of luminal gastroenterology conditions, including coeliac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, heartburn, dyspepsia (indigestion), Barrett’s oesophagus, anaemia, and unexplained weight loss.

Dr Kandiah graduated from the University of Manchester in 2006, before undertaking his specialist training in gastroenterology within the North West London deanery. He completed an advanced fellowship in endoscopy research at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth in 2017.

Dr Kandiah’s research on advanced endoscopic detection and resection techniques has been presented in national and international conferences. His work on advanced resection of colonic polyps was awarded the Marsha Dreyer Award by the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in 2016. He has widely published on advanced endoscopy and continues to participate in endoscopy research.

Dr Kandiah is a consultant physician and gastroenterologist in St George’s University Hospital NHS Trust. His main interests are advanced therapeutic endoscopy (which include resection of large/complex colonic polyps) and endoscopy training. He leads the Complex Polyp Multi-Disciplinary Team and performs advanced endoscopic resections of complex colonic polyps in St George’s Hospital. He is the current training lead for endoscopy in St George’s, which is recognised as a National Endoscopy Training Centre. He is also a National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme accredited endoscopist.
