About Mr Wai Yoon

Mr Wai Yoon is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Cromwell Hospital, specialising in spine surgery. His NHS base is at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham and the Univeristy Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

Mr Yoon graduated from University College London and Middlesex Hospital in 2000, before training in orthopaedic surgery on the prestigious Royal London Hospital programme. After completing his training in 2012, he undertook a dual complex spine fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, London and the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia.

Mr Yoon sees both adult and paediatric patients for a range of spinal conditions, including lumbar spine disorders, spinal surgery, back pain, sciatica, spinal infection, spinal tumour, neck surgery, cervical pathology, neck pain, microdiscectomy, and minimally invasive spinal surgery.

In 2013, Mr Yoon won the Charles Manning Award for his work on early onset scoliosis. He is chief investigator for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) 'MAGEC Rods Metallosis Trial in Early Onset Scoliosis' and principle investigator on the NIHR 'Better Outcomes for Older people with Spinal Trouble (BOOST) Trial'.
