About Miss Amanda Herbert
Amanda qualified at Leeds Metropolitan University in 2006 and has been gradually progressing to the specialist level and leadership level over 19 years. She started acute work in Oldham Royal Infirmary, followed by Bradford Royal Infirmary. She then moved on to a specialist diabetes role within an MDT in Rochdale. After that, Amanda relocated to London and started a role as a community nutrition support dietitian, followed by specialisation in home enteral feeding and extended scope to change balloon gastrostomy tubes. Her final move within the NHS was to Homerton Healthcare 11 years ago to support the Acute and Community team.
As the professional lead within Homerton NHS Hospital Trust, she supports an Acute and Community dietetic service with involving governance and policy writing, and supervising 7 specialist dietitians across ITU, neurology, gastroenterology, home enteral feeding, medical and surgical dietitians.
Amanda has experience in leading a paediatric service across allergy, complex needs and adult services. Having supported growth within Homerton to recruit new Primary care dietitians, she also heavily advocated for a nutrition nurse role to support our inpatient team which was successful.
Gained experience gave her insightful knowledge and allowed to work closely with commissioners and service managers, plus forged good relations with senior nursing, medical directors and chairing nutrition steering committee.
Amanda has a solid awareness of healthcare concepts and a passion for dietetics, which drives her ambition to ensure diet and nutrition gain a front row seat at the forefront of development and change for preventative, management and treatment of clinical conditions in the private sector.
