About Dr Luke Smith

Dr Luke Smith is a consultant in Acute and General Internal Medicine with experience of the acute management of a wide range of medical presentations in various medical disciplines. He qualified from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine and Dentistry in London in 2005, having also obtained an intercalated B.Sc. (Hons) in neurosciences. He then trained within London with posts in many tertiary centres and now holds an NHS consultant post at St Thomas’ Hospital.

Dr Smith has specialist interests in toxicology and medicines safety, having obtained a M.Sc. in medical toxicology during his training and now also undertakes work in the specialist Addiction Clinical Care Suite at St Thomas’, working with patients with substance abuse issues.

Dr Smith also has an interest in forensic medical sciences and undertakes medico-legal work and hold the role of Lead Medical Examiner for the London Boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark, as well as Lead Medical Examiner for St Thomas’, Guy’s, Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals.

Dr Smith is registered as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and a registered Medical Examiner with the Royal College of Pathologists. He is also the regional Training Programme Director for Internal Medicine Training (IMT) for North West London.
