About Miss Marie-Klaire Farrugia
Miss Marie-Klaire Farrugia completed her paediatric surgical training in London and Oxford, obtaining her specialty fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2008. She later sub-specialised in Paediatric Urology, with a postgraduate research doctorate based on her research in fetal bladder outlet obstruction and kidney development. She was awarded a travelling fellowship from the American Academy of Pediatrics, which enabled experience in leading centres in Boston and Baltimore. She is amongst the first robotic paediatric surgeons in the UK.
Miss Farrugia has held various leadership positions in the NHS and professional committees. She is active academically and is recognised internationally, with over 50 publications and book chapters. She was recently elected onto the board of the European Society of Paediatric Urology, and as a member of the prestigious Society for Paediatric Urological Surgeons. She is the Senior Assistant Editor of the Fetal and Perinatal section of the Journal of Pediatric Urology.
