About Mr Ronald Van Heerwaarden

Mr Ronald van Heerwaarden is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Cromwell Hospital. His areas of expertise are osteotomy, joint preservation surgery, knee arthritis, knee surgery, and knee osteoarthritis.

He gained his medical qualifications in 1994 before training as an orthopaedic specialist in Amsterdam. He established his orthopaedic practice at Sint Maartenskliniek in the Netherlands, where he led the Limb Deformity Reconstruction Units for 13 years. He then worked at the International Knee and Joint Centre, Abu Dhabi, before moving to London.

As an industry-leading specialist knee surgeon, Mr van Heerwaarden is globally recognised for his innovative approach to knee osteotomy, limb deformity correction, and knee joint preservation. He is a pioneer of new surgical techniques and instruments and is highly sought-after to deliver talks in the field of limb deformity corrections.

He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed research articles and presented more than 500 lectures and surgical skills courses on osteotomy and the correction of limb deformity. He continues to be involved in research to further knowledge in joint preservation surgery to enable patients to live active lives for longer.
