About Mr Sasindran Ramar

Mr Sasindran Ramar is a consultant general surgeon who specialises in upper gastrointestinal and bariatric and metabolic surgery.

Mr Ramar qualified from Madras Medical College (MMC), India and undertook his advanced surgical training in general and bariatric and metabolic surgery in the UK. Since 2015, he has worked as a consultant surgeon at King's College Hospital, specialising in metabolic and bariatric surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery, gallbladder and hernia surgery.

Mr Ramar’s surgical work focuses on primary and revision bariatric/metabolic surgery and benign upper GI surgery, including gallbladder/gallstone removal, hernia surgery, and anti-reflux surgery. He carries out a range of laparoscopic procedures, including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, revision surgery for failed weight loss surgery, and more. All Mr Ramar’s outcome data is recorded in the National Bariatric Surgery Registry (NBSR).

Mr Ramar has a significant research history, with a large number of publications in well-known medical journals. He is actively involved in trials for treating diabetes by means of metabolic surgery, as well as contributing to several other large studies including the effect of bariatric surgery in depression.

Mr Ramar contributes to the education of trainee doctors by holding several educational roles, including honorary senior clinical lecturer at King's College Hospital.
