He has extensive experience in complex coronary intervention including bifurcation, rotablation, and bypass graft coronary angioplasty. He also performs angioplasty to chronically occluded coronary arteries where appropriate. His specialist expertise lies in functional and imaging modalities of coronary intervention, including intra-coronary pressure wire, intravascular ultrasound, and optical coherence tomography assessment of coronary lesions.
Dr Kabir carried out his undergraduate medical training at Guy’s Hospital Medical School, where he was awarded the Hilton dissection medal. He then completed his PhD in cardiovascular research at University College London Medical School. This PhD was funded as a prestigious British Heart Foundation PhD scholarship and resulted in several publications.
He carried out his specialist interventional cardiology training at Royal Brompton and Hammersmith hospitals, and spent a year as a cardiology interventional trainee at the Le Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, Lausanne, Switzerland where he further developed his skills.
He participates in the primary angioplasty programme and has championed the radial route of access for treating heart attacks at Harefield Hospital. Dr Kabir is developing a renal denervation programme at Harefield Hospital for the treatment of resistant hypertension. He is also becoming increasingly involved in the percutaneous aortic valve programme at Harefield Hospital.
