The Ingenia 1.5T MRI Scanner at Cromwell Hospital is designed to create a calming atmosphere. Ambient lighting is used to transform the scanning room into a multi-dimensional theatre, where music plays and images and light are projected onto the scanner’s circular walls. People can choose the music, colours and images they prefer.
The scanner reduces scan times by up to 30 percent and because patients pass through a larger space than used in a traditional MRI, the experience is less claustrophobic.
Mr Paul Montgomery, medical director, Cromwell Hospital, said:
“At Cromwell Hospital, we’re passionate about the standard of care we provide for every patient. Our new MRI scanner makes the experience of having an MRI far more comfortable. It reinforces our commitment to providing the most effective and highest quality healthcare for patients through investment in state-of-the-art equipment.”
