Cromwell Hospital is dedicated to the innovation and improvement of healthcare. Noticing the opportunity to improve patient experience on the wards, and wanting to ensure that medical device alarms were receiving a prompt response and appropriate service to the patient, the nursing team looked for a technological solution.
Before our partnership with Bedside Equipment Alarm Monitoring System (BEAMS), it was difficult for our staff to immediately identify which alarm was going off and its requirement for action due to patients being attached to multiple machines.
The BEAMS system instantly provides staff with alarm alerts, room number, and type of alarm, allowing staff to react efficiently and quickly. Overall, average response time to medical device alarms was reduced by 58% and alarms over five minutes were reduced by 80%.
We are pleased to have worked with Tutum Medical to elevate our patient care and improve staff efficiency and be one of the first hospitals to trial the new BEAMS wearable fobs.
Julia Spindler, Head of Nursing at Cromwell Hospital, shared her thoughts: “BEAMS has made such a difference for both our staff and patients, acting as the eyes and ears for our nurses.”
